The 104th Anniversary Reunion weekend is coming sooner than you think, over the weekend of August 13-14, 2011.  Make plans to attend now!  Here is the current Stewart Newsletter with all the details....

The Walter Stewar Clan now has a Facebook presence - please join if you use Facebook!

All of the 2010 Reunion Pictures are now posted.

The Walter Stewart Family Burial Index, a little-known type-written document produced in 1987 by 31714 William Rawlinson, has been converted to an editable file and posted here for use by family members.  It shows burials locations by cemetery for a number of South Carolina and Civil War locations.  If we receive good feedback on this document, we may be able to expand it over time.  If anyone is intersted in taking on an updating of a document like this, family records in document and scanned PDF format will be eagerly provided!  The burial index is posted here in Adobe PDF format.  If you do not have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader program to read the PDF files, you can download and install it for free at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

3.13.512 James Marion Stewart, Jr. supplied a terrific selection of never-before-seen pictures from his immediate family, and they have been scanned and are now posted in the House of Robert picture archive (http://www.walterstewart.org/3_robert_archive.htm).  You may remember that James was the “Mystery Stewart” at the 2007 Reunion who so generously shared his story of how he finally tracked down his long-lost Stewart kin.

322211 Doris Benjamin has provided pictures from the 1981 and 1991 Stewart Reunions, in addition to wonderful pictures of 3221 Lillie Mae Stewart Cunningham and Hugh Lafeyette Cunningham (newly posted on the House of Robert picture archive page).

By popular demand, the presentation that was shown during the Saturday, August 11, 2007 Reunion activities is posted here and the text of Carl Kramer's talk on the family history is posted here.  They are in Adobe PDF format due to the large size of the original files..  If you do not have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader program to read the PDF files, you can download and install it for free at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

An addition to this site has been made as a happy side-effect from the 100th Reunion planning.  151222 John Hellams and 351231 LaMarr Brooks have made a highly significant contribution to the family by providing pictures and videos of significant past and present Stewart properties and other locations in Upstate South Carolina.

1790, 1800, 1810, and 1820 census pages from Laurens County, SC are now posted thanks to 3171421 Chelsea Clark.  These pages include Walter Stewart, Sr.

The Walter Stewart family has close ties with the Bobo family.  Check out the Bobo family website here.

We would really like to continue to add to our archive of Stewart Reunion photographs.   We have a nice selection of pictures back to 1995, but very few from before then.  Please make a point of bringing copies of your past Reunion pictures to the Reunion next time!  We'll scan them on the spot and return them to you immediately.  Or if you prefer, you can e-mail electronic pictures any time to Judy Smith or Mary Newton at jmlesslie_777@yahoo.com or mary at walterstewart dot org.  Other kinds of Stewart photographs are also encouraged!

It would be wonderful for everyone who'd like to stay in touch with other family members to check out the Contacts page! And it would be terrific to add YOUR e-mail address to this list, so feel free to send it in, either on the form on the Contacts page or by dropping a line to Judy L. Smith.

A cool feature of the site is a selection of on-line forms for informing the family historians of marriages, births, deaths, and military service in your family.  A new addition to the pages is the Walter Stewart Clan privacy policy.

Plans are in the works to place the contents of the book into a standard genealogical database and begin the process of updating the records with corrections and new additions. Volunteers are most welcome for this effort! Contact the Chief Historian for more info.
